UPDATE 3/2/10: Thanks to all of you who brought items for the first night of our charity drive!  We received the following in an email from Catholic Charities:

"The Theology on Tap charity drive was a huge success last night!  Lots of food, bags, and other items were donated to MR (Catholic Charities' Midnight Runs)."

We will continue collecting items for our Lenten Charity Drive at our next two talks, so keep up the good work!

Theology on Tap NYC and Metro 53 are pleased to announce a 2010 Lenten Charity Drive in cooperation with Catholic Charities.

It's really simple.  Catholic Charities needs the following items for their Midnight Runs for the homeless:

  • Plastic Bags (sandwich size)
  • Brown Lunch Bags
  • Grocery bags – plastic (whatever you may have at home)
  • Small toiletries – hotel size items
  • Juice Boxes/Small Water Bottles
  • "snack packs" (think lunch sized snack bags of chips, pretzels or fruit snacks, granola bars etc.)
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly

We will be collecting these items, with the help of Catholic Charities' Junior Board at our remaining three Lenten talks:

  • March 1
  • March 8
  • March 15
So if you are planning on coming to one of these talks, please bring with you one (or more!) of the items from the list.  Thank you and God bless!
